'Modern castle' in the Okanagan worth $15.5M going to Sotheby's auction

To call this a three-bedroom house is a massive misnomer.

Yes, Sterling Manor in Penticton has three bedrooms, but they are generously proportioned masterpieces with lux ensuite bathrooms.

And those three bedrooms are in a three-level 6,391-square-foot home dubbed a 'modern castle' valued at $15.5 million.

The rest of the rooms in this contemporary mansion built in 2018 are touted as masterclasses of architecture and interior design.

There's the sumptuous living room with a disappearing wall to the outdoor living room with views of Okanagan Lake.

A garage with rotating marble floor and chandelier allows you to show off your sports car, luxury sedan and high-end SUV.

This contemporary palace is located at 581 Vancouver Ave. just east of downtown Penticton perched on a slope for stunning views.

Sterling Manor has been listed for sale for $15.5 million by Kelowna-based sales representatives Natalie Benedet and Scott Ross of Sotheby's International Realty Canada.

But, it was recently decided that the modern castle will make history and be the first Canadian property offered for live bidding at the iconic Sotheby's New York auction house on June 14.

The auction will be part of Sotheby's Concierge Auctions' Exceptional Global Properties Sale, which is part of Sotheby's New York's bi-annual Luxury Sales Week Series.

Sotheby's, the world's largest marketplace for art and luxury, will auction off Sterling Manor to the highest bidder in an event with no reserve.

No reserve means no minimum price has been set.

Technically, that means the modern castle could go for $1.

But, Sotheby's are professionals and its experience and expertise and contacts with the world's rich and elite means it knows the unique and exquisite Sterling Manor will be desirable and push the price up.

"Sotheby's International Realty's affiliation with this (Sotheby's auctions) brand heritage has helped us to build an innovative marketing and referral program that connects the world's finest properties to discerning clientele online and through traditional channels," said Sotheby's International Realty Canada CEO Don Kottick.

"This upcoming live auction underscores the fact that Canada is now well-established as one of the most sought-after destinations for real estate on the global luxury market."

Sterling Manor can be viewed online between now and June 8 at www.conciergeauctions.com.

Online bidding will actually open on June 8 on the same website and then culminate with the live auction June 14 at Sotheby's in New York.

Another Canadian property will also make history along with Sterling Manor.

It's 11-acre Vollebak Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia, which is expected to go for between $5-and-$10 million US.
