Around 20 cm of snow expected for Hwy 3, snowfall warning issued

Anyone heading east on Hwy 3 for the weekend looks to have a tough drive ahead of them.

The slow moving lot that continues to move across the southern part of the province will bring around 20 centimetres of snow to the West Kootenay region tonight.

That includes Hwy 3, which has prompted Environment Canada to issue a snowfall warning for the mountain pass.

Rapidly accumulating snow is expected to make travel difficult for some stretches of the highway, especially around the Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass.

Environment Canada is urging motorists to adjust their driving to the conditions and be prepared before you set out on your journey.

You can find the latest road conditions and view webcams of highways around the province by checking DriveBC.
