Both Kamloops RCMP and the Kamloops Fire Department are attending to the truck fire in the northbound (also considered eastbound) lanes along the Coquihalla Highway.
According to RCMP, the accident is blocking both northbound lanes of traffic west of Hwy 1.
Traffic travelling from Merritt toward Kamloops on the highway can detour via Lac Le Jeune Road, says RCMP.
Kamloops Fire Department estimates the northbound lanes will be closed for at least one hour.
According to witness Nathan Ritchie, the truck appeared to be a semi-trailer hauling cherries.
