UPDATE: Single lane opens to traffic travelling northbound Hwy 5 following truck fire

(UPDATE: 8 p.m.) - Highway 5 has one lane open to traffic following a truck fire that closed both lanes going northbound in an area south of Kamloops.

Drive BC reports that the vehicle incident has one lane blocked and while traffic can get through they should expect major delays and congestion in the area.

(UPDATE: 6 p.m.) - Kamloops authorities are attending to a truck fire that has closed off both northbound lanes along Hwy 5 north.

Both Kamloops RCMP and the Kamloops Fire Department are attending to the truck fire in the northbound (also considered eastbound) lanes along the Coquihalla Highway.

According to RCMP, the accident is blocking both northbound lanes of traffic west of Hwy 1.

Traffic travelling from Merritt toward Kamloops on the highway can detour via Lac Le Jeune Road, says RCMP.
