Homeowner shot during day time break in

A daytime break-in turned violent on Sunday.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Vernon RCMP received a report of an interrupted break and enter to a home in Falkland.

Upon arrival, investigators learned that the homeowner returned home to find suspects had entered his residence.

He chased them from the property, but not before the incident turned violent as one of the suspects allegedly shot the homeowner in the leg.

The 52-year-old male victim was transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment.

His residence contained a licensed medical marijuana grow operations, which police believe to be the target.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released once it’s available.
