UPDATE: Man and woman found dead in rural Shuswap home identified

(UPDATE: Nov. 12 @ 4 pm): The RCMP has confirmed that the two people found dead in a rural home near Shuswap Lake last week died in a "tragic" and "isolated event."

They have also been identified as a man, 62, and woman, 60, who knew each other.

"The identity of each of the deceased person discovered inside the home has been confirmed by the RCMP and the BC Coroners Service," said Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey.

"Furthermore, I can confirm that RCMP continue to believe that this tragic incident was an isolated event.

"No suspects are being sought at this time, nor is there any danger to the public."

(UPDATE: Nov. 6 @ 12:50 pm): Mounties are still securing the scene in rural Anglemont after two people were found dead in a private home near Shuswap Lake.

Police were informed about the bodies at about 3.40 pm on Nov. 5.

They were at a property along Fraser Road.

"Police are treating both sudden deaths as suspicious in nature at this time," said Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey.

"Our investigators' primary goal will be to positively identify each of the deceased. Forensic specialists will be assisting major crimes with the collection of evidence as they conduct a full examination of the scene."

The BC Coroners Service, which investigates all sudden deaths, has begun its own probe.

(Original story: Nov. 6 @ 7 am): Two people have been found dead in a rural home near Shuswap Lake.

Their deaths are being treated as suspicious, police said.

Officers from Chase RCMP are securing the scene in Anglemont.

Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey said an investigation into the deaths – which is being led by the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit – is in its early stages.

He said: “Added resources are being moved into the area to assist with the ongoing police investigation.”
