Some BC Wildfire vehicles were broken into last night in the South Okanagan.
Ryan Turcot of the BC Wildfire Service confirmed that four vehicles were broken into last night at a hotel in Osoyoos.
He says that some firefighting equipment was stolen, such as shovels and possibly some fuel cards, as well as personal items belonging to the firefighters.
Over 50 firefighters from BC Wildfire are working near Oliver to strengthen to assist with flood response. They have been strengthening sandbag defenses in the Willowbrook and Sportsmen’s Bowl Road areas over the last few days and are working hard to build sandbag reserves in strategic locations.
It’s been disappointing to hear reports of a BC Wildfire vehicle being broken into when they are here in such a generous capacity to support our community.
