Summer is here, and the outdoor fun is in full force!
Enjoy a summer of fun on the trails at SilverStar Mountain Resort starting this weekend.
Hiking, cross-country and downhill bike trails are ready to go today, with First Chair Festivities starting at 9:55 a.m..
Prizes will be awarded for riders or hikers catching the first chair of the season, and free beverage tickets will be handed out for the first 50 people on the chairlift.
“The slow release of moisture from one of the largest snow packs in the history of the resort will make nice and tacky trails," says Cam Sorensen, SilverStar Mountain Resort Bike Park Manager. "This will be one of the best openings in a decade."
SilverStar Bike Park top is at 1915 m (6280 ft), with a vertical ride drop of 760m to the bottom at 1155 m (3780 ft). There are a total of 18 downhill bike trails, 21 cross-country bike trails, four hiking-only trails, and two multi-use trails.
The trails will be open to use until mid-September.
The mountain has all sorts of new additions this summer, including the new 8-Passenger Doppelmayr gondola opening July 14, 2018. While you’re there, you’ll be able to hike along the Attridge Scenic Loop, a new trail that starts at the top of the gondola, or bike the new beginner trail, Little Ripper, that takes riders from the village to the bottom of the Comet Chair.
Silver Star also has adrenaline-pumping Eurobungy trampolines where you can show off some summersaults.
To top it all off, the Look Out Cafe at the top of the mountain offers some beautiful views - and sandwiches.
