A skateboarder from Vancouver Island is headed to the Olympics with Canada’s first ever national skateboarding team.
Shay Sandiford, from Courtenay, is 23-years-old and currently resides in Los Angeles.
Canada Skateboard released the list of 12 people who made the team, and BC is well-represented.
Three of the team members are from Vancouver, one is from White Rock, and another is from Kamloops.
Canada's first National Skateboard Team is:
Discipline: Street Skateboarding
Discipline: Park Skateboarding
Each individual earned their spot on this team by competing in the Olympic Qualifying Tour in 2019 - 2020 and were selected in accordance with Canada Skateboard's National Team Selection Policy.
