(Update: March 11, 2021): Investigators have concluded that a vehicle fire that claimed the life of a man last week was not suspicious.
The BC Coroners Service is continuing an independent investigation to determine all of the facts surrounding the death.
(Original story: March 4, 2021):
One person was discovered dead after a vehicle fire in Beacon Hill Park this morning.
Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) are investigating the fatal fire, which was called in shortly after 8 am.

When officers arrived, the Victoria Fire Department was on scene extinguishing the blaze.
MCU detectives and officers with VicPD’s Forensic Identification Services are on scene and are continuing the investigation.
“This file is in the early stages of the investigation,” police said. “We will provide further updates as soon as we are able.”
