VIDEO: Supercar owner shares the love with sick kids

Kevin Gordon always wanted to drive a Lamborghini, but he's since learned that what is even better than driving one, is sharing the experience.

So, he's turned it into a full-time pursuit.

In partnership with the Children's Wish Foundation, Gordon seeks out kids who could use the kind of lift that only a supercharged 5.2 liter V-10 engine can provide. It's called the "Driven Project." This weekend, he's joining-in with the Kelowna-based Dream Rally.

When Gordon sold his business, things changed. But for him, life did not slow down. Not by a long shot.

"That same day I went to the Lamborghini dealership and cut him a cheque for this thing," he said, pointing out his supercharged Lamborghini.

"And when I had fulfilled my dream the next natural step was to share that experience with other people," he added.

Gordon started taking people for rides, and that evolved into taking sick kids and their families out, and it just evolved into the "Driven Project."

He was able to convince luxury car dealerships and owners to get involved and it's grown into something bigger.

Every month about a dozen supercars are made available to kids with health challenges, and there are other smaller meet-ups in between. For Gordon, it's become a full-time pursuit. The payoff is the reaction of the kids.

"I've had a lot of kids say it's the coolest thing they've ever done," he said. "I've had kids cry out of joy and excitement. They'll literally jump up and down almost in disbelief of how incredible and exotic these machines are."

The reaction when they get to feel 700 horses of power kick-in is often the same and always great.

"It's almost always laughter actually," said Gordon with a grin. "This thing is pretty violent in it's acceleration."

Every time he goes on a ride like that, it gives him a little boost of joy.

It turns out realizing your dreams is one thing. Sharing them with someone who could use a little joy? That's something else.
