As B.C. continues to burn, some people just aren’t getting the message.
West Shore RCMP on Vancouver Island pulled over a driver on Thursday for tossing their cigarette butt out the window.
Not only was the act extremely dangerous given the current dry conditions, but it’s also illegal.
The driver was issued a $575 ticket for the offense, but didn’t seem to think the fine was deserved.
According to a tweet from the RCMP, the driver called the ticket “insane.”

This particular driver isn’t the only person that doesn’t seem to be getting the message though.
According to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service’s deputy chief, Chris Doyle, 37 tickets have been issued for prohibited or unattended fires in the past week.
The province is also urging the public to use extreme caution in the great outdoors this long weekend to reduce the risk of more fires.
