If you’re looking for some inspiration to take into your weekend on the golf course, look no further.
JoAnne Carner, affectionately nicknamed “Big Mama”, played one heck of a round at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open on Thursday in Chicago, Illinois.
According to the United States Golf Association, the 79-year-old finished 1-under-par during the first round of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open to match her age with a total of 79.
That's a very respectable score for a golfer of any age, but the real story here is the character of Carner and the 79-year-old's undeniable swagger.
Firstly, she hasn’t walked a golf course since 2004 and U.S. Senior Women's tour rules state no carts allowed, however being denied a cart didn’t seem to slow Carner down.
She also reportedly stepped up to the first tee after taking a long drag on her cigarette.

Despite having already played an amazing round of golf, the 79-year-old found herself staring down the massive, 421-yard, par-5, 18th hole needing a birdie to shoot her age.
Being the legend that she clearly is, Carner got that birdie and finished the first round with a 79.
Those familiar with the world of women’s golf are likely aware of Craner, she has 43 wins on the LPGA tour from 1969–1985 (including two majors), she is also the oldest woman to make an LPGA cut and was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame no less than 36 years ago.
JoAnne Carner is likely going to miss the cut at the U.S. Senior Women's Open, but that doesn't change the fact that she's an absolute legend who shot her age (79) on Thursdayhttps://t.co/yXG3rUPhxt
