It may not have been the outcome the Canadians were looking for as they made their Copa América debut Thursday night, but it was a strong effort against the defending World Cup champions.
Playing in a sold-out crowd in Atlanta, Georgia, to commence the 48th edition of the Copa América, the Canadians kept the match scoreless going into halftime against Argentina.

Both teams had plenty of scoring chances in the first 45 minutes, including a Canadian header in the 43rd minute that Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez stopped.
Maxime Crepeau made numerous saves for the Canadians, including a one-on-one save to deny Argentina early in the match.
Coming out of halftime, the Canadians were the first onto the pitch, but the Argentines were nowhere to be seen.
After waiting for roughly five minutes, the defending tournament champions made their way onto the field.
Argentina scored four minutes into the second half, before solidifying the match in the 88th minute to take the 2-0 win.
The Canadians are back in action next Tuesday against Peru.
