This past weekend the Kamloops Long Blades hosted the Classic Chill Speed Skating competition at McArthur Island which had just under 100 participating skaters — 27 of them being members of the host club.
This weekend proved to be successful for the host club as the members recorded an impressive 73 personal best times.
“I am really impressed with how our kids skated at this meet, setting so many personal best times” said head coach Sandi Vyse.
Naomi Columbus and Lienke Raath each recorded personal best times in all five of their events while Evan Columbus and Kayleigh Roberts each skated four personal best times. The remainder of the club members recorded either two personal best times or skated one personal best time.
The Kamloops Long Blades will be hitting the ice next weekend in Edmonton as they compete in the Edmonton Fall Classic Speed Skating Competition.
