The Kamloops Venom was in action on Sunday in a home game against the Vernon Tigers.
Kamloops was supposed to take on the South Okanagan Flames on Saturday, but a broken-down bus resulted in the cancelled game.
There were no broken down busses between Kamloops and Vernon as the two teams met for Mother's Day action. It was a tight contest but the snakes were able to hang on after a massive push by Vernon in the third period.
After the first period, Kamloops entered the break up 5-1 thanks to goals from Trey Degrousoff, Nolan Virgo, Max Bose, and more.
The Venom would score two more to open the second before Vernon netted four unanswered goals. After two periods the teams were scored at 8-5.
Vernon came out hard in the third making it a one-goal game. They would get as close as 9-8 before Callum Gorman got a late insurance goal.
Gorman was arguably the most dangerous for the Venom on Sunday as he scored once and assisted five others. Nolan Virgo had the most goals on the team with three in the game.
Up next the Venom travel to Vernon to take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
