While most of us were kicking back and relaxing during the weekend, Lennard Pretorius was doing what very few people in the world have ever done.
The physician at Thompson Rivers Medical Clinic climbed Highland Drive on his bike 65 times in a row between Saturday and Sunday, equalling the height of Mount Everest.
Pretorius finished the 239.6 km climb in just 21 hours, 21 minutes, and 26 seconds.
"That's a wrap," wrote Pretorius in a Facebook post. "That was tough but made so worthwhile by unbelievably great support from this great cycling community and the people of this great city."
"I am today truly humbled by the great effort of support from this community which surpassed my physical effort on the hill over the past 2 days."
In addition to this amazing feat, Pretorius was also raising money for the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation. After months of training and one long trek, Pretorius raised over $6,500 for the Foundation.
"We can't say 'Thank You' enough," wrote the foundation. "Together as a community, we can do great things."
Though Pretorius hasn't mentioned his future plans, biking long distances will surely be a part of it.
