WolfPack keeps it local with first women’s soccer recruit of the season

A NorKam Secondary graduate is the first recruit for the WolfPack women’s soccer team's 2018-19 season.

Centreback/midfielder Ainsley Grether of Kamloops will join the TRU team after graduating from NorKam later this spring. Grether plays with the Thompson Okanagan Football Club.

“TRU has always been part of my heart,” Grether said. “I have been watching the team since I was little and then I trained with them a few times in the off season. It gave me a sense as to what this club is all about!

“When it came down to deciding where I wanted to be playing the next four or five years, Thompson Rivers is literally right in my backyard and gave me everything I wanted.”

Grether is looking forward to sporting the black and orange as a hometown player at Hillside Stadium, her favourite place in Kamloops. TRU will be announcing more women’s soccer recruits in the coming weeks.

In other WolfPack news, the TRU baseball team is heading to Washington State this weekend for their final exhibition games before the regular season. They’ll be taking on the Langley Blaze and Olympic Community College in the coming days. The regular season starts on March 24.

Meanwhile, the WolfPack competitive cheer squad finished first in their event at the ATC Canada Championships in Vancouver last weekend.

TRU’s squad had a final score score of 86.7 out of 98 with a 91.26% giving them a total of 90.26% for the one-day competition. The final event for the WolfPack is the Sea to Sky International in Vancouver from April 6 to April 8.
