Several communities across British Columbia logged new temperature records on Thursday, according to Environment Canada.
The forecaster said the figures are preliminary and apply only to the date of Aug. 1.
It comes as much of the province has been put back under heat warnings, with temperatures in the mid-30s anticipated in the days ahead.
Maximum temporary records were set in the following places:
Clinton: New record 31.7ºC; old record of 30.8ºC set in 2014
Nelson: New record 38.3ºC; old record of 37.6ºC set in 2003
Princeton: New record 37.3ºC; old record of 36.7ºC set in 1965
Squamish: New record 31.7ºC; old record of 31.2ºC set in 2015
Vernon: New record 36.9ºC; old record of 36.1ºC set in 1907
West Vancouver: New record 28.1ºC; old record of 27.7ºC set in 1993
In its bulletin detailing the temperatures, Environment Canada added: “Please note that this summary may contain preliminary or unofficial information and does not constitute a complete or final report.”
