AccuWeather has released its 2019 fall forecast and it has a very pessimistic outlook for British Columbia.
The weather forecast service is calling for a warm and smoky fall for BC, a reminder that wildfire season doesn’t end when the kids head back to school.
“The fire season is far from done,” said Brett Anderson, AccuWeather Canadian weather expert.
“We believe there may be a second surge in fire activity during the month of September from British Columbia to Saskatchewan.”
So far, it’s been an encouraging wildfire season in Western Canada, with just a small handful of notable fires to speak of.
If a few warm and dry weeks do result in more wildfires for BC, the smoke could have far-reaching effects across North America.
AccuWeather is also expecting the snow season in the Rockies to get off to a slower start than usual, but doesn’t specify on the outlook for mountains further into BC.
