While it wasn’t exactly picture perfect, the weather on Canada Day in Kamloops was at least memorable for one reason.
The not-so-typical summer weather saw sheets of rain come down across the region and temperatures that demanded at least a sweater, if not a full-on jacket for some.
According to Environment Canada, it was the coldest July 1 in Kamloops since 1979, with the thermometer reaching a measly 15.3°C.
That ties the previous record set in 1979, with records only dating back 1951.
However, Kamloops wasn’t the only city in the southern Interior dealing with a dreary Canada Day.
Vernon and Kelowna also recorded their coldest Canada Day temps in over 40 years.
It happened to also be the coldest July 1 in Kelowna since 1979, with the thermometer reaching a measly 16.8°C.
Vernon saw a high of 15.1°C on Wednesday, marking the coldest Canada Day since 1979 when the temperature only reached a high of just 12°C.
Heading into the weekend, it looks like Kamloops will finally receive some sunshine, along with a bit of cloud, and temperatures in the 20s.
