Summer comes in hot: Temperatures to reach 37°C this weekend

It’s the first official weekend of summer and the weather agrees.

Environment Canada is calling for a hot weekend in Kamloops, with temperatures possibly reaching 37°C on Sunday and nothing but sunshine for the next few days.

Friday could reach a high of 30°C and a low of 12°C overnight into Saturday. The sunny weather will continue as temperatures reach a high of 34°C on Saturday before jumping to 37°C on Sunday. The forecast predicts a high of 34°C on Monday before Tuesday brings a chance of showers and a dip back down to 28°C.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the South Thompson as temperatures in the mid to high 30s are expected throughout the southwestern Interior. It's expected daily record highs could be broken in certain parts of the province. Environment Canada reminds residents to watch for the effects of heat illness and never leave pets inside a parked vehicle.

The warm, sunny weather makes it a perfect weekend to get outdoors and enjoy all the Thompson Valley has to offer. Make sure you tag your weekend photos with #KamloopsBCNow to be featured on our Instagram feed or in a photo gallery.
