Live it Now: Moving Towards Joy

Hello friends! Only one more week left of spring and we head right into another glorious summer in the Loops. It took me a bit to digest what I wanted to write about, as I had to do some more self-study to really figure out exactly what was going on in my heart. Although very busy with the new business, I do typically make time to celebrate my Mom on Mother's Day, by doing a run/race in Penticton. It's a beautiful run starts up in the Naramata bench and goes all the way down into Penticton, a challenging but amazing 16K. I was very disappointed actually that I couldn't go this year, but after getting through that in my head and letting it go. I realized the reason I run that particular event... while celebratory, I was actually running away from grief, rather than towards joy. In that state of running I find my bliss and she's still here.... proverbially speaking. Although I have been running for many, many years and long before she passed, it grew to become my sanctuary and my always available grief counselor. But I realized through yoga and stillness that I can find joy in her memory more now than ever, without that crushing grief that forces me out the door after I lace up my shoes. Of course, I will continue to run... not just for its health benefits but for the undeniable emotional release that it offers. However, that peaceful dissolve into stillness has brought me so much joy, that I am starting to float above the sadness.

That being said two amazing runs and a wonderful charity event over the next 3 weeks. As well as my next module of yoga teacher training with the amazing Leilani. Indulge me while I share these tidbits of fun! June 21/5: 30 pm Riverside Bandshell the United Way, Natali Saari, and friends will host a by donation 90-minute yoga class, to elevate awareness and raise funds for the Feeding the Future initiative. Kamloops Food Bank and SD 73 know first-hand how much is needed to feed the hungry children in our community. Here’s the link if you’d like to join us: FEEDING THE FUTURE JUNE 21 The next day is my favourite trail event with the Dirty Feet Trail Series! It’s called Beat the Buzzer and super fun! Then July 1 Get Canadian with Get Happy Events. Really looking forward to expanding my sense of who I am becoming in all of these different ways. As my wellness journey evolves, my focus shifts and my depth of acceptance becomes clearer, I feel lighter and softer. I walk through the world with a bit more grace. I’m liking myself more than I ever have. Self-study is a huge part of being well, taking a good hard look with compassionate eyes and loving yourself, flaws and all. It’s a daily practice, not a perfection. But it’s so worth it... and SO ARE YOU! It’s your life... It's waiting … LIVE IT NOW!
