1969-12-31 03:30:00 1969-12-31 04:00:00 America/Vancouver Children's Arts Festival Join us at the 20th annual Kamloops Wizards and Wonders themed Children's Arts Festival on September 13-14 and be part of this “magical” event. The festival gives all children in the Kamloops area, ages 2 and up, the chance to try out different art forms. Unlike the majority of kids' festivals in the province, thanks to sponsors and supporters, the Kamloops event is completely free. FRIDAY SEPT 13th from 3:30 to 5:30pm “Kids FunShop After School Party”. This year the Friday afterschool portion is geared to slightly older children (ages 6 – 12) and we’ll have workshop such as Sock Puppets with Kellie Haines, Magic with Clinton W. Gray, Beginning Cartooning with Judylynn Davison, Stop Motion Animation with Jackie Chomyc (TNRLIbrary), and more! All “Funshops” will be FREE, but some activities will require registration through Eventbrite. This year's lineup includes the Green Man Project, and Ventriloquist Kellie Haines. No costume? Never fear! Workshop booths await where children can create their own wizardry gear. Led by local artists and organizations, these include activities such as wizard hats, wands, fairy wings, or kids can make their own “magic” bag from recycled materials and duct tape, plus facepainting, henna, dance and more. Western Canada Theatre's VW Turtle River Race will be taking place concurrently at the park on Saturday.
