Don’t let the summer heat keep you indoors. Kamloops is home to great activities that will keep you cool while also keeping you active and having fun.
Hot weather has arrived in Kamloops. With daily highs of 39ºC both Saturday and Sunday, people throughout the Tournament Capital will be finding ways to keep cool. If you are looking for a way to spend the weekend, here are some ways you can beat the heat.
Splash around in a water park, and be active while staying cool. Kids can play in sprinklers, water cannons, a giant water-spewing snake, or on the playgrounds beside the park during the heat.

The three water parks in Kamloops are located in Riverside Park downtown, McDonald Park on the north shore, and Albert McGowan Park in Sahali.
There is no better way to cool off than a swim from one of the beaches along the North and South Thompson Rivers. Pioneer Park beach and Overlander Park beach are both dog-friendly and near the heart of the city. Lifeguards will be on duty at the Riverside Park beach during the afternoon starting July 1st. Kamloops Lake, just west of Kamloops is also a great location to go swimming or partake in watersports.
A hot day is great to spend on the water and learn to stand-up paddle board. Lessons for the popular Hawaiian sport are available at Heffley Lake, just 30 minutes outside of Kamloops. Paddles and boards are also available for rent at Ocean Pacific Watersports, Bruker Marina, or True Outdoors. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the same locations.

There are over 100 lakes in the Kamloops area to go swimming, fishing, or spend the day on the water, but for those who can’t get out of the city, there are outdoors pools throughout the city. Prince Charles Park is the perfect place for children to go play in shallow splash pool.
The Brocklehurst Pool, located behind the arena, and the McDonald Park pool are also great spots to cool down during the summer heat. Both pools are outdoor and 25 metres in length. The Canada Games Pool and the Westsyde Pool are also great indoor locations to go splash around.
Visit one of the best ice cream spots in the city. Tourism Kamloops has listed the top five ice cream hot spots, including Scoopz, The Zoo, Tutti Frutti, Menchie’s, and Zack’s Coffee.
