The Skim City skimboarding camp opens on Monday for participants of all skill levels.
The camp will have two sessions run each day from August 10th to 14th at the Overlanders Beach near the Henry Grube Centre.
The morning session will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will run from 12 to 3 p.m.
The camp encourages everyone to get out and try skimboarding regardless of their abilities. Basic fundamentals as well as advanced technique will be taught and practiced.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn tricks such as spins, shuvits, ollies, go-off kickers, and jib across rails and tables. They will also learn proper skimboarding etiquette, how to make a skim spot, and skimboarding safety.
It costs $100 for the week, and an additional $25 to rent a board.
It is a non-profit camp with the goal to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
