The new laughter-filled sport of bubble soccer is coming to the Tournament Capital of Canada.
BC Bubble Soccer, a company based out of the Fraser Valley, is planning to expand to Kamloops following the Labour Day long weekend.
“It is launching in Kamloops this week coming up,” said Tony Lavin, Director of Sales for B.C. Bubble Soccer. “I love Kamloops. I absolutely love being there mountain biking, being in the river, it’s been a great place this summer for me, so I wanted to spend even more time there. Through my visits I noticed there was no service for bubble soccer and I know it’s a tournament town.”
Bubble soccer, also known as zorb soccer, was invented in Norway and the large inflatables people wear makes for a hilarious and safe full-contact sport.

“It’s more of a workout than you would expect. It’s a lot of fun,” Lavin said. “I just laugh when I’m watching anytime I’m out there. It’s something different to do that is fun and safe compared to any other full-contact sport, and it’s just a unique and entertaining thing to do.”
Initially, bubble soccer in Kamloops will simply be calendar booking whenever people can organize their groups, but Lavin is working to form a partnership with the indoor soccer dome to form a bubble soccer league in Kamloops.
“My goal ultimately is to have a league form,” he said. “We can use any outdoor field as long as it’s dry and clear of debris, or any indoor gym. We use school gyms, we use hockey rinks that don’t have ice, and indoor soccer complexes. We have a lot of options.”
The rates begin at $329 per hour to rent 10 bubbles for up to 25 players.
“You definitely want more people because it’s extremely exhausting,” Lavin said. “We do three or four minute switches, that’s all you need. You’ve got 10 pounds you’re carrying around and you don’t have the best breathability.”
