In Focus | Cheryl Paige

Meet Cheryl. Cheryl has lived in Kamloops for almost 20 years. She owns a life coaching business and makes a difference in people's lives every day. She is basically a human angel!

What is your name?
Cheryl Paige.

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I grew up in Fort Nelson, BC and moved to Kamloops to attend university. I've been here for almost 20 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I love to spend time with my kids and husband because we always have fun together!

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Well it is a hard to choose just one! I love so many of them. I'm a huge fan of Real Deals on Home Decor because they have lots of beautiful signs, furniture etc. Every time I go there I find something I absolutely love.

Describe yourself in one word.
Genuine.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
This list is long! I love to travel and explore. I'd love to go to Italy.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I enjoy Pilates at Evolve Pilates Studio.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I don't feel embarrassed as much as I used to. Now, I laugh at myself and take each moment in stride. The last moment like this was when I tripped in a public place and preceded to trip/walk with my arms flailing trying to catch myself. It was hilarious.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
For the power of love to eclipse the love of power so the world can experience peace, acceptance and harmony.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Hiking in the beautiful trails all around the city.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Kamloopsians come together to support our own. It's a city with a small town feel - it's exactly why I love it here - It feels like home.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
I try to live my bucket list every day, week, month and year. There isn't a long list of things to do before I leave this earth. My top 3 bucket list items are to

1. Live each day being present and experiencing every little thing with gratitude (this is a work in progress!).
2. Living my life in alignment with my values (connected relationships, health and growth) and being true to myself in everything I do in life as authentically, confidently and courageously as possible.
3. To enjoy each and every moment and be here now.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?

What is the name of your business/organization?

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I am inspired each day by those in my life that are taking life as it comes. When life knocks them down, they get back up and keep going. I've come to learn that we never know what each person's story is - yet I can say for certain that each person's story is inspiring.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
The one that popped in my head as I read this question is sitting on my Grandpa's lap and reading to him. Later in life he would always tell people that I taught him to read. I love that man for always loving me unconditionally.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
To give back to the community I offer scholarships for women to participate in the programs that I offer. I am always seeking out people who are in need of support in their lives and do what I can to support them. For all of the events that I offer, a cause is chosen to support and funds are donated to that cause. Over the years these causes are always related to familes and members of the community that have fallen on difficult times. Sometimes its a single mom who is battling cancer, other times it's a family who has lost their house to fire. In all cases, money is raised and given to them to assist. If you know of someone in need, please contact me as I am always seeking to find those to support through this initiative. My husband, Jason, and our family as well as our Construction Business, Acres Enterprises, love to support local initiatives. This year, Jaye and the kids were arrested for the Jail and Bail of United Way to raise money to feed kids. It's causes like this that we love to get behind. One of my favourite ways to give back is through a Weekly Women's Circle that Tracy Munson and I facilitate together. We meet every week on Wednesdays (starting again in the fall) to come together to connect, grow and support each other. This group was created out of our desire to create a place where women can come and know that they aren't alone.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I LOVE musicals!

What is the name of your business/organization?
Cheryl Paige Coaching & Healing

Why did you get into/start this business?
I found myself in a dark place several years ago and I didn't know how to feel better. During this time I felt completely alone and wasn't sure where to turn. Now, I create groups and spaces where women can come together to feel supported and connect.

What is the goal of your business?
To help women become empowered in their lives and live a life aligned with their truth through coaching, healing, education, support groups, inspirational writing and speaking.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Living my truth and ditching my people pleasing tendencies.

What do you always find yourself saying?
I'm grateful for....

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Focus on what you want to experience more of because what you focus on will expand in your life.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Oprah - I've been watching her since I was a kid and her teachings have shaped my life. I would love to spend a day learning from her!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I think it's essential to shop locally to support our local businesses allowing them to continue to serve the Kamloops community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I'm proud of transforming my life from one of giving my power away to being the captain of my life.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Nicole Duff of Mood Living is always finding ways to give back to important causes. Recently she designed and donated custom blankets for the families of Homboldt as keep sakes.
