Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
Born and raised in Kamloops.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I have favourite people - my babies, my husband and my parents.
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
I love Jardines. They have amazing style and service.
Describe yourself in one word.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Paris, for the fashion of course.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I love trail running in Kenna Cartwright park.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
There’s so many things because I’m so clumsy. The most recent one that comes to mind was last year when I slipped right in the middle of my Irish dance duet. I fell right to the ground haha.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
This is going to sound really cliche, but meeting my husband has been incredibly inspiring. He is the hardest working person I know and an incredible business man. He gives everything his all with total confidence. I constantly feel inspired by his drive and work ethic.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I absolutely love Christmas - I loved baking with my mom and decorating the house. We always waited until it was -10 to put up the lights, go figure.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
All of the cyber bullying. It’s absolutely tragic and sad. I am so glad I grew up before cellphones and smartphones were a thing.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Kenna Cartwright Park.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The beautiful outdoors!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Do a full Ironman triathlon OR run a full marathon.
2. Go to Fashion Week in New York.
3. See the Pyramids of Giza.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I got into law school, but I chose to be an electrician instead.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Instagram is my jam. @courtneyvike
What is the name of your business/organization?
Courtney Vike - my personal blog
Why did you get into/start this business?
My love for fashion stems back as long as I can remember. I would slip into my mom’s high heels, hats, and jewelry as often as I could. I started my fashion blog a year ago because I LOVE to set trends and inspire people... but also because I wear steel.
What is the goal of your business?
I hope to inspire people to feel confident in their selves and in their personal style.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Criticism and judgement - I take everything to heart.
What do you always find yourself saying?
The F word. I have a terrible mouth.
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Do you! Do whatever makes you feel happy and passionate. Don’t let your fears of judgement from other people get in your way. Oh, and always wear sunscreen!
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Elton John and my dad, as a group date. He is our favourite!!! If Harry Potter was a real person, it would definitely be him!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Having babies - I am obsessed with them.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Natalie Dollman - She’s my friend and photographer and she’s amaze. Shout out to you bae!
Some general comments I would like to share are:
Not sure if the blurb of “why did you get started in the business” worked.
My love for fashion stems back as long as I can remember. I would slip into my mom’s high heels, hats, and jewelry as often as I could. I started my fashion blog a year ago because I LOVE to set trends and inspire people... but also because I wear steel toe boots and Carhartts everyday to work. I absolutely love my work, and love dressing up on weekends to blog. It’s the perfect mix for me.
