Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I grew up in Smithers, but have lived in Kamloops for 7 years now.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My two nieces, I love watching them learn and explore!

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Castles & Cottages! The staff is amazing and friendly and they always have such gorgeous stock!

Describe yourself in one word.
An onion.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
New Zealand! I would ship my motorcycle there and tour around the countryside just like my dad did when he was younger.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I love to ride my horse & go gold panning & metal detecting, all so relaxing!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Not going there!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
All the kindness and help I received from complete strangers while I rode my motorcycle across Canada, it was truly incredible.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
One of them for sure would have to be hunting for fossils with my sisters and parents!

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I don't currently, but I am always looking for ways to give back and make our area a better place!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
As cliche as it is, world peace. There are way too many wars and too much fighting going on in the world.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Tranquille Creek, McArthur Island, anywhere I can walk and be in nature.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
The amount of homelessness and homeless youth that we have in the community.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The people, there are some incredible humans that live here!

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Ride down to the Sturgis motorcycle rally, skydive, and travel more!

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have a ton of collections! I'm not at "packrat" status, but I have more collections than the average person, that's for sure!

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Mostly on Instagram (estbeam13) & Facebook.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Esther's Oddities.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I love everything odd and antique.

What is the goal of your business?
To give my unique and odd finds a second life and allow others to see the beauty in them that I already do.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Losing my mom, thankfully I have three of the most incredibly supportive sisters!

What do you always find yourself saying?
Only you can choose to give away your positive energy.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Never compare your journey to others.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Anyone of my three sisters! (If I could change the question to anyone currently alive or not, I would spend the day with my mom).

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It helps the local economy! Plus I love supporting other small businesses.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Solo riding my motorcycle across Canada and back this summer.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My best friend Niya Guinn! She is one of the most caring, wonderful people I know and an incredible mama!
