Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
Born and raised in Kamloops. Lived here for 30 years.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife Sandra. She’s my best friend and we always do everything together with our border collie, Rocky.
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
Fratelli Foods. My grandfather used to own an Italian deli on Tranquille, Tony’s Market and Fratelli’s always reminds me of his store.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Italy, to eat.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Fishing.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I constantly find myself saying hi or waving back at people only to realize they are saying hi or waving to someone else.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
From travelling I have realized just how lucky we are in Canada, and that a lot of our daily complaints are often quite trivial in comparison to the trials and tribulations others may be facing.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Swimming out to the old wooden dock at Riverside Park, and climbing on the 2141 steam locomotive that used to be on display.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
In the past, I have volunteered for Developing World Connections in Kamloops, St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, the Canadian Red Cross in Kamloops, Kamloops Food Bank, and the Kamloops SPCA.

Cure cancer.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Cooney Bay on Kamloops Lake.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
An outdoor skating rink downtown. It's a great winter attraction for the city and it gets people outside and having fun.
What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Kamloops is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise with some of the best fishing, skiing, hiking, and mountain biking right in our backyard. It’s big enough to give you the amenities of any major city but small enough to give you that small town feel.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Go to space
2. Come back from space
3. Write a travel book about space
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I love to cook. I even keep a menu on my phone of all the dishes I would serve if I owned my own restaurant.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Facebook and Instagram.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Sundance Liquor Store, Sun Peaks.
Why did you get into/start this business?
The business was struggling one winter and I was asked to step in to help out. I ended up staying and running it for 10 years and eventually became an owner.
What is the goal of your business?
As a tourist destination, we strive to showcase the best local wine, craft beer and spirits that the area has to offer. I know when I travel I always want to try a local beer.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Balancing being a full-time law student while running a small business and still having some time for my family and friends.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Let’s get some ice-cream!
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Don’t sweat the small stuff in life.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Elon Musk, maybe we can go for a ride on his Space-X rocket.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
You’re supporting people and families that also live and shop in the community, and so by shopping locally the profits get better reinvested back into the community.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I wrote an Aboriginal law paper that won a National Canadian Bar Association essay contest.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My parents for always being my number one supporters and motivators.
My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:
Anthony Salituro for his tireless work putting on the Pink Ribbon Ball to raise money that goes to our local hospital to fight cancer.
