Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
33 Years, aka My Whole Life.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
Oh, that's a tough question. I love spending time with friends. My family are the most important people in the world to me, especially my nieces, they really bring light into my life.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
I love Jardine's Domain as well as Sugar and Spice Beauty Bar. A little fashion and self-care. You can't go wrong there.

Describe yourself in one word.
Determined.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Italy - It's such a beautiful country and I would love to go back and visit some family.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Getting Outdoors, we are so lucky to have such beautiful scenery in this place we call home.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I would have to say when my sister called the radio station and requested "Sometimes" by Britney Spears and sent it out to myself and my crush at the time. SOOOOO many people heard it, it was so embarrassing. What a way to start the 8th grade.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I would say that one of the most inspiring things to happen to me in life would be the day I realized you are never too old to reach your goals or set your goals for yourself. I was 28 years old when I decided to re-enroll back in university. I have now graduated through Simon Fraser University's Human Resources Management Program.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Making homemade tomato sauce in our garage as a family. Our whole family from Vancouver would come down for a weekend, we'd drive out to Spences Bridge and get fresh tomatoes and spend the whole weekend making sauce! How Italian... I know.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I do a lot of charity events in town. Such as the Terry Fox Run, Boogie the Bridge, organizing the Shoebox Project In our office every Christmas.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I could come up with quite a few things to change in this world, but I hope that whilst living in a world that at times seems increasingly xenophobic and hostile, everyone would get treated as a human being. That, to me, means the right to be treated with respect and dignity.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Gold's Gym, even though I may not be alone. It's my me time. Music on, World Off.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
I'd love to see a lot more events like the Charity shopping event at the mall. It had such a great turn out, and everyone had so much fun.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
The people, the scenery, the way we are able to adapt as a city to our always changing surroundings.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Visit Greece. 2. Visit Disneyland. 3. Travel Across Canada.

Why did you get into/start this business?
My great Friend Melissa Finch.

What is the goal of your business?

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?

What do you always find yourself saying?
"Right?"

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Be You, Always.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
If I could spend the day with anyone I would have to choose Ellen DeGeneres!!! She promotes not only celebrities, but also talented children and other inspirations; she embodies the fact that age is nothing but a number and that you’re never too old to have fun, she teaches us to never give up, she is proud of who she is, and mostly because She closes her show every day by reminding us to “have a great day and be kind to one another!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
The more we put into our community the more we get out of it.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Graduating from university at 31.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Julie Lemottee - My daily inspiration, she has 2 small kids and runs her own personal training business.

My choice for the KamloopsBCNow In Focus spotlight is:
Julie LeMottee & Chris McLeod.
