Stephanie Strate.
How long have you lived in Kamloops?
Seven and a half years.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband and our dogs. He's my support system, he's always so encouraging and motivates me to follow my dreams. We both work hard every day so coming home to some time with our pups and a good Hike is always my favourite.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Yelling at my dog, 'Bonsai, no!'
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My grandma who is 90 and back home in Saskatchewan. She was such a huge part of my life growing up and isn't doing well at the moment so would love to have one more day with her.
Who or what inspires you?
My husband, who is also self employed.
What are three things on your bucket list?
1. New York at Christmas
2. Drive across Canada
3. Stay in an over water bungalow in Bora Bora
Please tell us about a defining moment in your life.
After working three years at a previous job I was denied time off to go home for the holidays to share with my family and I knew it was time to make a change and become self employed. No one would ever dictate time with my family ever again.
What are you passionate about?
Design, decor, architecture, animals and food!
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
Most likely my wedding day. It was such a perfect day, beautiful weather (no smoke), everything ran so smooth, and we had all our family and friends out here to share the weekend with us.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Buying and running a successful salon for the past four years. Which I'm very fortunate to say I truly love going to work every day but have been in the industry for 12 years and it sure takes a toll on your body. Which is why it was time to redirect my focus on a new business.
Where is your favourite place to dine in your city?
So many to choose from but our go to's are Mittz Kitchen and Peters Pasta
What is your favourite activity or event in your city?
Hiking, biking, paddleboarding and snowboarding.

Stephanie Lynn Interiors.
What does your business/organization do?
Interior Design, home staging, renovation and new build colour selections.

Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
Successful and busy working with other businesses within the community.
What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Creativity
Passion
Good listening and communication skills, which comes with 12 years of hair styling!
What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
Currently it's just myself!
What makes you feel successful? Tell us about it.
Making people happy. When I have satisfied customers, I know at the end of the day I'm successful.
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Builders, developers or real estate and I'd talk about potential work opportunities.
If I could change one thing about the city you live in, it would be:
I would love to have my family living here!
What do you think makes your city great?
The outdoors. Within 20 minutes of town you can be doing anything you can absolutely think of like, biking, hiking, camping, boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, skiing and snowboarding, hunting and fishing. That's pretty incredible since coming from the prairies we didn't have these opportunities so close to home.
