The Missing People Choir put on an incredibly moving performance during an audition on Britain’s Got Talent last week to send out an important message and raise awareness about their missing friends and relatives.
One of the performers in The Missing People Choir is Mrs. Denise Horvath-Allan, the mother of Charles Horvath-Allan who went missing in Kelowna in May, 1989.
Charles Horvath was a 20-year-old British national who vanished while staying at Tiny Town campground on LakeShore Drive.
“My son Charles went missing when he was 20-years-old,” said Allan in a video uploaded by Britain’s Got Talent. “He was backpacking 27 years ago. There isn’t a minute when your heart is free from the pain or heartache.”
During the audition, The Missing People Choir performed “I miss You” while images of their missing loved ones appeared on a large screen behind them.
The performance received a standing ovation and a number of people in the audience were brought to tears.
“I just want to find him,” said Peter Boxwell, a member of the choir group whose son Lee went missing in 1988. “But I know we’re not the only one’s going through this. We’re all in this together and we can all stand by each other.”
“Hopefully some of the youngsters who have gone missing, their photographs will be shown on the screen behind us, and maybe somebody will come forward and tell us what’s happened to them.”
“It only takes one person to recognize a face,” said Allan. “We all have a common goal to find our missing loved ones and bring them home where they belong.”
