As of January 10th, Starbucks almond beverage will be available in 1,300 stores across Canada.
Thousands of ideas are submitted to Starbucks and voted on each year and the introduction of this almond beverage was one of the company’s top customer requests.
“We are committed to continued beverage innovation and part of that is listening to our customers,” said Starbucks Canada’s Peter Bond. “We heard from customers that offering non-dairy alternatives is important to them, so we are excited to introduce our rich, creamy almond beverage that complements all of our handcrafted beverages, hot and cold.”
The light nutty flavoured milk substitute will be available for use in various hot or iced Starbucks drinks for an additional 70-cent charge.
Starbucks first introduced a non-dairy milk alternative in 2004 when they launched their soy beverage and have since followed that up with the introduction of a coconut milk beverage in 2015.
According to Starbucks, their almond beverage has light almond notes with no added flavouring and because it is unflavoured, customers can customize it to their taste preferences.
A 250 mililitre serving has just four grams of sugar compared to 12-13 grams in 2% dairy milk.
