Hoping to get out and about this weekend? Maybe you'll find yourself on the trails, at the park or on the golf course. Whatever your plans, we've rounded up a few fun things for you to check out on your weekend excursions:
Meet the B.C. Lions
The B.C. Lions are in town for training camp and fans can hang out with the team on Saturday. FanFest runs 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Hillside Stadium. Kids can play with the pros during the football clinic, then catch a sneak preview of the team during an on-field practice before an autograph session at 9 p.m. The event will feature a number of family-friendly attractions and beer for the adults, closing with a fireworks show.
Check out some live music
If you feel like vibing to some live jams, Kamloops rarely disappoints. Red Collar is hosting an evening of live jazz on Saturday with local trio Jared Wilman on the drums, Alex Ward on the piano and Jackson Marshall on guitar. Special guest Kris Ruston will also join them on the bass. Check it out between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. No cover.
Learn something new at the market
The Farmers’ Market Learn and Grow speaker series returns Saturday with Lisa Forth, the founder of Go Forth Kamloops Composting. She will be available at the market to answer all your composting questions and speaking about the importance of composting and the process at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
The Saturday Farmers’ Market features all the goodies you expect to find at the market, from arts and crafts to local meats. It runs every Saturday in the 200 block of St. Paul Street from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Give back
Relay of Life is camping out for a cure on Saturday night to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Participants can sign up as an individual or as a team. Check out the website to register or donate.
