7 breathtaking hikes to do in and around Kamloops

Summer is the perfect time to get outside and get active!

Lucky for us, Kamloops and the surrounding areas are home to a ton of fun hikes.

Whether you are a seasoned hiking veteran or just a beginner, there is a trail for you!

Take some bug spray, water and maybe even a picnic lunch to make a day out of a beautiful hike!

Battle Bluff

Battle Bluff is the perfect hike if you are looking for a short and sweet walk.

The hike is about a 20-minute drive from Kamloops North Shore and lies in the Dewdrop Range grasslands.

From the hike, you will enjoy some amazing views of the Thompson River and Kamloops Lake.

McDiarmid Falls

Can't wait to start chasing waterfalls again that spring is just around the corner. 👣

This hike is rather difficult but it is worth the view.

Altogether, the hike should take roughly an hour and a half. The trial will start on an old flat road but will veer into the forest and descend into a valley for the second half.

For those willing to try, a beautiful waterfall awaits.

Grasslands Trail- Peterson Creek

Peterson Creek is over 6,000 metres of dog-friendly trails!

The grasslands trail will give you a bird’s eye view of Kamloops with the added benefit of viewing exposed bedrock and even a waterfall!

Sunset Trail

This accessible trail weaves through Kenna Cartwright Park just outside of Kamloops.

It is best experienced in the evening, hence the name!

Pack a snack and a bottle of wine and enjoy the view with that special someone!

Gibraltar Rock

This scenic trail is a 30-minute drive from Kamloops.

Hikers can experience beautiful Douglas-fir and pine trees until you reach a breathtaking overlook at Gibraltar Rock.

The trial finishes at the very popular Paul Lake beach so be sure to bring a swimsuit!

Embleton Mountain

Near Sun Peaks resort, Embleton Mountain is a quick 36-minute drive from downtown Kamloops.

Embleton offers some of the best hiking trails in our area!

From the peak, you can overlook Heffley Lake which is worth the workout!

Juniper Ridge

This is another Sun Peaks Resort hike and it’s worth every minute of driving.

This trail really has it all including an incredible view, blooming wildflowers, wildlife and incredibly lush meadows.

You’ll definitely want to take your camera on this hike!
