Adorable and fuzzy, these spotted baby cougars are receiving some much needed love and attention at the Oregon Zoo’s veterinary medical centre.
Three 10-day-old cougar cubs were found orphaned in Washington State last week. The cubs were then sent to the medical centre, where zoo keeper Michelle Schireman will be acting as cub mamma for a few weeks.
"Without a mother, young cougars can't survive on their own in the wild," said Schireman. "So I work to find them suitable homes. We have a couple of options we are considering right now, and the cubs should only be in our care for a couple of weeks at the most."
The cubs arrived in Portland on September 18th, weighing just a pound and a half each. Their eyes are barely open, but they have been eating well and have big voices.
"They're loud," she said. "When you come to feed them in the middle of the night, you can hear them all the way out in the parking lot."
