Jim O’Donnell did his best impression of Captain Sullenberger on Wednesday, but on a busy highway instead of the Hudson River.
According to ABC’s New York affiliate, O’Donnell was the only person on board the small plane that landed on Sunrise Highway at around 1 p.m.
The feat was captured on video by a car driving on the highway that happened to be behind where the plane came down.
Not only did O’Donnell have to make the difficult emergency landing, he had to keep the plane under a set of highway signs and an overpass.
As the plane seems to gain control on the ground, a police car makes its way onto the highway and quickly flips on its lights.
ABC reported that the plane was towed down the highway to Brookhaven Airport.
I normally expect traffic driving out east. I do not expect it to be because a plane landed on Sunrise Highway. pic.twitter.com/moD1F8TRzp
