Today is April Fools Day, and the RCMP in North Vancouver have released a video they made in their own time to bring a smile to people’s faces.
In a video that resembles the beginning of the movie 21 Jump Street, the two officers announce a new operation they’re running in the North Shore mountains called the Integrated Forest Enforcement Law League, or “I-F.E.L.L.” for short.
The reason behind the name of the operation becomes quite apparent quite quickly.
The video has an introduction from the two officers who star in it, Sgt. Peter DeVries and Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy, explaining that it was filmed before COVID-19 officially reached our shores.
They want to remind people to practice social distancing and to follow guidelines provided by the Public Health Officer to fight the spread of COVID-19.
"We dreamed this up together over coffee, back when we could still get together for coffee,” said Cst. Goodmurphy. “We wanted it to be a silly April fools gag, but now we hope it can be used as another vehicle for the message about physical distancing.”
“If it gives you a chuckle, pass it on so it brightens someone else’s day,” added Sgt. DeVries.
“Please make our bumps and bruises worthwhile.”
