The Canadian Revenue Agency website is down following reports of a potential hacking threat.
According to a notice posted to the website, the CRA took down its online services after becoming aware of an internet vulnerability.
"Upon becoming aware of an internet vulnerability that affects some computer servers used by websites worldwide, we took down our online services, including electronic filing, and are taking steps to ensure that all information and systems remain safe," reads a notice on the CRA website. "At this time, we are not aware that any personal information has been affected; however, we continue to assess and remedy the situation."
The notice also states that there have been reports of fraudulent emails and phone calls purporting to be from the Agency. The CRA encourages people to be cautious as well as to find out more about these scams here.
Users are still able to access the website to complete tax forms but have to wait before filing.
