(Original story: Feb. 17 at 2:45 pm): While several people have suffered injuries after a plane crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport, no fatalities have been reported, according to Delta Airlines.
The incident occurred around 11:15 am PST and involved Delta Connection flight 4819, which had originated from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The flight was carrying 76 passengers and four crew members. In total, 18 people were taken to local hospitals with injuries. Videos and photos online show the plane lying upside down upon landing at the airport.
Delta Airlines says the plane was operated by one of its subsidiaries and that it was a single-aircraft accident.
“Initial reports were that there are no fatalities,” reads an update from Delta Airlines.
“Several customers with injuries were transported to area hospitals. Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted.”
The airport was closed shortly after the incident, but departures and arrivals have since resumed.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has announced that it will be deploying a team to investigate the incident.
