(Original story: Oct. 17 @ 4:20 pm) - Mounties in Saskatchewan have activated the province’s Amber Alert system in response to the abduction of a child born less than a week ago.
Police say the victim is a five-day-old baby boy who was abducted this afternoon from the health centre in Montreal Lake, a First Nation community north of Prince Albert.
The baby is seven pounds and was last seen wearing a blue sleeper.
The RCMP believes the child was taken by a 35-year-old, who is likely driving a black 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV.
The suspect is described as 5’11” with a stocky build. He has short dark hair and brown eyes, but the RCMP does not have an idea of what he was last seen wearing.
“Investigators believe (he) may be traveling to the Big River, Loon Lake or Mudie Lake areas,” an RCMP release explained. “The suspect and child were last seen at the health centre in Montreal Lake early this afternoon.”
Anyone who sees the suspect is urged to not approach him, but rather call 911 immediately.
