Canada has been ranked seventh for the second year in a row. In last year’s report, Canada was praised for our success in multiculturalism and integration.
The top 10 countries were dominated by Scandinavian nations, with Finland taking first place.

Although Canada was ranked seventh for the past two years, a comparison of data from 2008-2010 to 2015-2017 shows that we are slipping slightly. Canada’s score has decreased by 0.213 over that period of time.
Surveys were completed in the 156 countries asking how people evaluate their lives on a scale of 0 to 10. The report took into account variables such as life expectancy, freedom from corruption, social support, GDP per capita, and generosity.
