Donovan Bailey 1 of 6 Canadians inducted into Walk of Fame

Donovan Bailey is one of six who will be added to Canada's Walk of Fame.

The Olympic and World Champion sprinter shared his excitement over Twitter on Thursday, stating he was both "honoured and humbled."

Canadas Walk of Fame announced the 2017 inductees on Wednesday.

The six Canadians being honoured include:

  • Donovan Bailey: Two-time Olympic champion in the 100-metre and 4x100-metre relay.

  • Anna Paquin: Film and theatre actor and youngest Canadian to win an academy award.

  • David Suzuki: Environmental activist, broadcaster and author.

  • Viola Desmond: Civil-rights activist who will be featured on the $10 bill in 2018.

  • Ted Rogers: Communications pioneer and business leader.

  • Stompin' Tom Connors: Legendary singer and musician who sold nearly five million records and won the hearts of Canadians across the country.

The Inductees will be honoured on November 15th, 2017 at the Beyond Famous Gala at the Liberty Grand in Toronto.

On Sunday, December 3rd, a one-hour documentary will air on Global Television called, Beyond Famous: Canada's Walk of Fame, hosted by Eric McCormack. The documentary will recognize Canadians who have been inducted into the Walk of Fame over the past 19 years and look at the impact they've made in society.
