At its March 23 council meeting, Humboldt city council proclaimed April 6, 2026, as “2017–18 Humboldt Broncos Day.” Mayor Rob Muench is encouraging residents to take a moment at 4:50 p.m. — the approximate time of the crash — to reflect and honour those who died.

The following day, April 7, is also being recognized for its lasting legacy. The city has proclaimed it as a Green Shirt Day, commemorating Logan Boulet, one of the Broncos players who died from his injuries.

Boulet’s decision to become an organ donor sparked what became known as the Logan Boulet effect, a nationwide surge in registrations that saw more than 100,000 Canadians sign up as organ donors in the days after his death.
