PMO says Trudeau, family stayed 'at no cost' in Jamaica

The Prime Minister's office has clarified details about Justin Trudeau’s family vacation to Jamaica over the holiday.

According to the PMO, the Prime Minister and his family stayed with family friends “at no cost” during their trip, which began on Boxing Day.

On Dec. 22, it was reported that the family would be paying for their stay.

“As per standard practice, the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner was consulted on these details prior to the travel to ensure that the rules were followed,” the PMO says in an emailed statement to NowMedia.

“The Prime Minister continues to reimburse the equivalent of a commercial airline ticket for his personal travel and that of his family.”

No details were revealed about where exactly the family is staging in the Caribbean island, however, they are due back in Canada on Thursday.

The family also vacationed in Jamaica over Christmas 2022.
