Pierre Poilievre’s Tories have retained their hefty lead over the governing Liberals in two recently released polls.
A survey by Leger released today has the Conservatives 19 points ahead of the Grits, while a Nanos poll released on Tuesday puts their lead at 15 points.
According to Leger, the Tories are on 42 per cent, while the Liberals are backed by 23 per cent of the electorate.
The survey puts the NDP on 18 points.
Nanos reckons the Conservatives are on 41.7 per cent and the Liberals 26.3 per cent.
According to their survey, the NDP are backed by 18.6 per cent of voters.
Both polls put Poilievre considerably ahead as the preferred prime minister, though the Tory leader appears to have lost momentum in recent weeks.
According to Leger, two-thirds of Canadians are dissatisfied with Trudeau’s government.
Just 27 per cent say they are satisfied.
That poll also found that a plurality (47 per cent) of voters think Trudeau wants to stay on as PM “because he likes” it.
The Leger poll was conducted between May 24 and 26 and involved 1,620 Canadian adults.
Nanos’s poll was based on responses from 1,000 Canadian adults that were interviewed in the week ending May 24.
