Popular steam cleaner attachments recalled over burn hazard

Health Canada has issued a recall for certain BISSELL steam cleaner attachments due to a risk of burns.

The recall affects attachments for BISSELL Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni steam cleaners, including model numbers 4171B, 4171C, 4171D, 4171H, 4171J and 4171X.

The agency says the attachments can unexpectedly detach during use and expel hot water or steam, posing a burn hazard to users.

BISSELL has received one report in Canada of hot water or steam escaping from the attachments, resulting in one burn injury. In the United States, there have been 205 similar reports, including 160 burn injuries.

About 95,788 units were sold in Canada between October 2024 and March 2026. More than 1.2 million units were sold in the United States.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled attachments immediately and contact BISSELL to receive free replacement parts.

The recall is being conducted jointly by Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and BISSELL Canada Corporation.
