A professional Canadian wrestler is credited with saving a woman’s life as she was dangling from a bridge in Calgary on Sunday.
Davey Boy Smith Jr., whose real name is Harry Smith, wrote on Facebook that he was driving down the street on Sunday night when he saw a woman hanging from a bridge near Bowness Road N.W.
In his Facebook post, Smith said he stopped and attempted to speak with her but when he got close she threatened to jump.
The wrestler credited his “years of grappling” experience for helping him save the dangling woman.
“I decided to grab a hold of her and not take any chances,” Smith wrote in the Facebook post.
“She also said she had a gun,” he wrote. “I told her ‘miss [you’re] not going to move unless I want you to, I’m an expert grappler and [you’re] not going to shoot me. We will get you help, life is a precious thing and I’m here to help you.’”
In a Facebook post earlier today, Smith wrote "the experience saving someone’s life is the greatest accomplishment I’ve ever made, and meant more than winning any championships in Wrestling."
Smith, who is the son of former WWF and WCW wrestler David “The British Bulldog” Smith, wrestled in the WWE before being released in 2011. He now competes in Japan.
