Recall issued in Canada for illy brand whole bean coffee

This could put a damper on your morning coffee.

A recall has been issued for illy brand whole bean coffee due to problems with swelling cans from missing air valves.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued the recall today, triggered by the company illy Espresso Canada, saying that due to the manufacturing flaw, there is the potential for the containers to expand and explode due to the carbon dioxide from the degassing beans accumulating in the can.

The recall applies to 250 gram packages of the dark roast and medium roast whole bean coffee with the best before dates and UPC codes listed below.

Customers are warned not to try and open or use the recalled products. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
